Konnor Griffin surprise proposal moment 30A Ti Adoro Studios

Before the Big Leagues, There Was the Big Question: Photographing Konnor Griffin’s Surprise Proposal

Before he became the Pittsburgh Pirates’ starting shortstop and the most talked-about young player in baseball, Konnor Griffin had one very important question to ask.

He chose 30A to do it.

And he trusted Ti Adoro Studios to be there, hidden, quiet, and ready, when he did.

How Did We End Up Photographing Konnor Griffin’s Proposal?

It actually started with Dendy’s dad.

Before Konnor ever got down on one knee, her father reached out to Michael first. He wanted to make sure that whoever was behind the camera for this moment was the right fit. Not just a photographer who could show up and point a lens at them, but someone who could actually take care of everything. Someone who had done this before, many times, and knew how to handle every detail so that nothing went wrong.

That conversation took about a week. There were a lot of questions. And that is exactly how it should be, because a surprise proposal is one of those moments you simply cannot redo.

Ti Adoro Studios has been photographing sessions on 30A for fifteen years. We have seen every version of how these moments can go. And one of the first things we will tell you is that we are not just there to photograph the proposal. We are there to coach the guy through the whole thing.

What Does It Actually Mean To Coach A Surprise Proposal?

Most guys have never proposed before. They have no idea where to stand, which direction to face, or how to make sure the moment photographs the way they are picturing it in their head. That is where we come in.

Before the proposal ever happens, Michael walks the guy through exactly where to be. Sometimes he will place a champagne bottle or a small arrangement of flowers in the sand, just so the guy has a visual target. A specific spot to walk toward. Something that makes the whole thing feel less like a performance and more like a natural moment unfolding.

We will also show the guy photos from previous proposals, pointing out exactly where the photographer was hidden and how the angle worked, so he understands why the positioning matters and what the final portrait will actually look like. Every detail is thought through in advance so that when the moment comes, he does not have to think.

Some proposals come together in a week. Some take a month. We have even worked with a couple for close to a year, life kept getting in the way, work schedules shifted, trips got rescheduled. We were there the whole time. When you are ready, we are ready.

That is what this kind of session actually requires. Not just someone with a camera, but someone who is fully invested in making it happen the right way, whenever that moment arrives.

Why Having Family Involved Makes Everything Better

Having Dendy’s dad reach out first was not unusual. In fact, when the family is involved in the planning, everything tends to go smoother. They can help keep the cover story believable, they can coordinate logistics on their end, and they take some of the weight off the guy who is already carrying the whole secret on his own.

Because here is the thing. The guy proposing has never done this before. He is managing his nerves, keeping a straight face, making sure she does not suspect anything. That is a lot to hold. The goal is to make sure he is not holding it alone.

That is the whole point of working with someone who has done this many times. The stress should not all be sitting on one person’s shoulders. Not the guy’s. Not the mom’s. Not the family’s. When the planning is handled properly, everyone can actually be present and enjoy the moment instead of bracing for it.

Why Do Couples Choose 30A for a Surprise Proposal?

30A offers something most proposal locations do not: a setting that already means something.

Most couples who propose here have a history with this stretch of coast. They have vacationed here together. They have walked the same streets in Rosemary Beach and watched the same sunsets over WaterColor. The place already carries weight before the question is ever asked.

The towns along Scenic Highway 30A each photograph differently. Rosemary Beach gives you European architecture, quiet courtyards, and a sense of timelessness. Alys Beach is brighter, more editorial, with white walls and clean lines that photograph beautifully even in flat afternoon light. Seaside is warm and familiar. WaterColor feels lush and soft.

After fifteen years of photographing along this coastline, Ti Adoro Studios knows which spots work for which couples, which times of day give you the cleanest light, and how to read the environment in real time so that nothing catches you off guard.

If you are thinking about proposing on 30A, we would love to be part of it. Here is how we can help.

What Happens After the Proposal Session?

Once the yes happens, the session is far from over. We spend time photographing the two of them together as a newly engaged couple while the emotions are still completely real. The relief, the joy, the way they look at each other in those first few minutes. That is not something you can recreate later. Then we bring the whole family in so everyone who helped make the moment happen gets to celebrate together too.

Shortly after your session we schedule a private reveal where you will go through your favorite portraits together and choose the ones you want to keep. We offer finished digital photos, heirloom albums, and gorgeous wall art. Most couples start with a curated set of digital favorites and then add something tangible, something that does not live in a folder on a phone but in or on the wall of the home you are building together.

One Last Thing About Konnor

We had no idea what was coming for him when we photographed that day.

We just knew he was someone who showed up fully present for the person he loves. That is the kind of moment we get to be part of, and we do not take that lightly.

Congratulations, Konnor! We are rooting for you.
